ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) – As 400 thousand hunters head to the woods for the 2021 Minnesota firearm deer hunting season, the state DNR is urging them to make preparations before opening weekend.
Remember to buy the appropriate license, know the hunting regulations for the permit area you’ll be hunting and be safe.
Besides firearm safety, learn how to set up and use tree stands safely, use a safety harness and wear blaze orange.
Minnesota has gone two deer seasons without a hunting related firearms death, the longest stretch since the DNR began tracking that statistic.
In the past ten years, 14 people have died in gun related hunting accidents.
The DNR reminds hunters to treat every firearm as if its loaded, be sure of your target and what’s beyond it and put your finger on the trigger only when ready to shoot.
