DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon, and the shorter 40 and 120 races get underway Sunday morning at Billy’s Bar in Duluth.
The marathon celebrates and honors the spirit of John Beargrease who delivered mail by dog sled along the North Shore of Lake Superior in the late 1800’s.
The Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon, the longest such race in the lower 48 states, starts at 10 a-m Sunday and is expected to finish sometime on Tuesday at Grand Portage.
