RICE LAKE, MN (KDAL) – A St. Louis County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a report of a suspicious male in the area of the 4100 block of the Willard Road in Rice Lake on Monday afternoon.
The man became physically aggressive while the deputy attempted to make an arrest. The suspect fled on foot and then climbed a thirty foot tree.
After about four hours of negotiations, the man came down from the tree and was taken into custody without further incident.
The deputy involved in the assault was treated and released from a medical facility.
Besides the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department, police from Duluth, Hermantown and Superior were involved in the peaceful resolution of the situation.
