VIRGINIA, MN (KDAL) – Earlier this year, a jury found 57 year old Michael Allen Carbo, Jr. of Chisholm guilty for the rape and murder of Nancy Daugherty in 1986.
On Thursday, after a series of appeals and challenges, Carbo was again sentenced to life in prison for the crime.
He was initially tried and found guilty in 2022 for the cold case but in 2024 the Minnesota Supreme Court reversed the conviction finding he should have been allowed to present limited alternative perpetrator evidence.
At the trials, evidence showed that Carbo’s DNA was found on the body and at the scene of the homicide.
