SUPERIOR, WI (KDAL) – The Minnesota and Wisconsin Departments of Transportation held a public meeting in Superior Monday to update the Blatnik Bridge replacement plans.
The 1.8 billion dollar project is wrapping up the preliminary engineering, environmental permitting and contract documents for bidders.
Work is also underway to rehabilitate the Bong Bridge that will carry the extra 33 thousand vehicles a day currently using the Blatnik Bridge during its four to five year shutdown.
To prepare for increased traffic during the demolition and reconstruction of the Blatnik Bridge, beginning in early 2027, several roads in Superior, including Winter and Susquehanna will be upgraded with new pavement next year.
