DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The annual Christmas tree recycling program is underway at Resource Renew, the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD) brand.
Residents are encouraged to bring their fresh-cut holiday trees to various drop off sites around the region for recycling.
The Resource Renew Yard Waste Compost site and Materials Recovery Center is accepting trees through Friday, January 31st.
Trees should have all ornaments, lights and tree stands removed prior to drop off. Flocked trees cannot be accepted and garland and other evergreen decorations containing wires are not recyclable and should be thrown in the trash.
Other tree-cycle sites are open until January 10th and include the parking lots at Chester Bowl, Lester Park, Duluth Heights Community Club, the Woodland Community Club, the Rose Garden and the Spirit Mountain Grand Avenue Chalet.
Carlton County locations are the Moose Lake Compost and Recycling Site and SAPPI Fine Paper.
