DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The City of Duluth will hold a virtual public meeting Tuesday afternoon 4:00 to discuss plans for the third phase of the Cross City Trail.
City staff will review project information, answer questions, and obtain feedback from
participants about the project at the meeting.
The Cross City Trail Mini-Master Plan, completed in 2017, calls for a paved, separated pathway for non-motorized users connecting the Lakewalk in Downtown Duluth with the Munger Trail near the Lake Superior Zoo.
Phases 1, 2, and 4 of the Cross City Trail have now been built between the Lakewalk and Irving Park. The Phase 3 project is intended to establish a preferred route for the extension from Irving Park to Green Street.
The City secured $600,000 in federal transportation funding to construct the Phase 3 Trail segment in the fiscal year 2023, for which a $210,000 match will be provided by the City of Duluth.
City staff is hosting the meeting to invite comments or questions from the public on the location and key features of the project.
Parts of the plan will continue ongoing stakeholder engagement, setbacks from Keene Creek, crossing Grand Avenue, coordination on MnDOT and Minnesota Power rights-of-way, other right-of-way impacts, and cost estimates.
