DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – While performing reservoir tank maintenance Tuesday evening, City of Duluth crews said water levels dropped unexpectedly and some residents in the upper Lakeside neighborhood had low or no water pressure.
While the City believes the water supply has no safety issues, residents there are being asked to boil drinking water until further notice.
The affected area is between 43rd and 54th Avenues East and from Norwood Street up to Skyline Parkway.
Water used for cooking and drinking should be brought to a full boil for one minute or longer to kill any bacteria or other organisms in the water. Safe alternatives would be to use bottled water.
Tests to confirm the safety of the water in that area are being conducted but results are not expected until Friday morning.
UPDATE: The City of Duluth has lifted the precautionary boil water advisory
for select residents in the upper Lakeside neighborhood. Test results confirm that no biological or
bacterial contamination has entered the water system and that the drinking water remains safe to
consume. The precautionary boil water notice is ended effective immediately.
