DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Duluth 1200 Fund is awarding just over 150 thousand dollars to licensed childcare providers to help fill the financing gap they face.
A total of 21 applications for the “Tiny Steps Childcare Grants” were accepted.
Ten thousand dollars grants will go to each of ten larger care centers and grants of five thousand dollars for each of eleven family based child care providers.
The program was proposed to help sustain the childcare sector after the closure of four centers last fall.
Tara Swenson, a City Councilor and 1200 Fund board member, says reliable childcare is essential for economic growth and stability.
