DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – After a 3 million dollar project to protect the Lake Superior shoreline at the Maritime Visitor Center in Canal Park, the U-S Army Corps of Engineers has reopened the area to the public.
A ceremony was held on Thursday to introduce the newly renovated space that is now protected from the impacts of erosion and severe storms while still preserving access to the waterfront.
The Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center is open from 9:30 a-m to 6 p-m daily and is visited by more than a million people each year.
Orange fencing will remain in the park area for several months to ensure the protection of newly planted trees and sod.
